15th December 2016 | Press Release
City College Plymouth has chosen Koha as its new library management system to replace the Softlink Liberty Library Management System. Koha will efficiently manage the College library’s valuable collections and deliver an improved service to both student and staff users alike. PTFS Europe will implement the Koha system and provide on-going hosting and support services.
Koha Library Management System
The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application providing students, staff and public users with access to the system through web browsers. The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. The Koha online catalogue (OPAC) offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to develop meeting the changing needs of libraries and their users.

With some 13,500 students and 750 staff the College is responsible for education and training of a wide variety of academic, vocational and professional courses, from entry level 1 to level 6 (final year of a degree course). As such, it needs an attractive, intuitive interface usable by this enormous range of students who need everything from basic searches to advanced searches. Paul Scarsbrook, Head of Learning Resources at the College is confident that Koha fits the bill and will update the current system for the C21st.
Nick Dimant, Managing Director at PTFS Europe stated
“We are delighted that City College Plymouth has chosen the Koha system and we welcome them as new customers. They will be joining our diverse and growing base of Koha customers from throughout the UK and Europe who are hosted and supported by PTFS Europe.”
